Miss Universe 2014: Welcome dinner!

With this event, the MUO has officially started the pageant! The girls had to strut down in their evening gowns and introduce themselves in whatever language they wanted. Watching some of the girls presenting themselves was like watching preliminaries--introduction part. It was nice and surprising! This is the first time I get to hear a lot of the girls open their mouths, so lets judge them, shall we?

Argentina - This country is finally back in the game and I cannot be any happier! I have been waiting for Argentina to show its teeth and knock those teeth of the ones who keep on penetrating to the semifinals--you know who. In terms of the dress and the overall look, it has an impact and she looks glowing. 8.8/10

Australia - this is the first time I actually like this girl. The dress is nice but she needs something to glow more so she could overshine the other girls. 8.4/10

Colombia - Paulina once again, captivated my eyes in this red gown. But wait, how many red gowns already? Anyways, out of the other three previous pictures, this is hands down the best. The hairstyle couldn't be more perfect. 9.7/10

Costa Rica - She gave a decent performance that night but her black gown blended in with the night sky. Not a good thing. 8.0/10

Haiti - Dayum girl! She looks very elegant yet fun in that two-pieces gown! She looks phenomenal! If I were her, I would've choose a smaller earring. But it's still a successful look! 9.0/10

Guatemala - I haven't got the full picture of the whole look, but from the belly up, she never looked better!!! Felicidades, senorita! 8.9/10

Guam - She hasn't stood out in comparison to the other girls. That gown's color is not my personal favorite and I didn't really like the fabric. Then she added the big pink flower that adds to the mess. AND then she holds another rose. Is she competing for Miss Universe or is she selling flowers in the L.A. suburbs? 7.3/10

India - this is one of the worst look I've seen on her! I was highly disappointed by this gown, the wrinkly fabric and the color were a mess. oh and it makes her look super short :( But anyways, her make up looks good. 7.1/10

Indonesia - I have mixed feeling about this look. The dress itself was absolutely gorgeous, but I don't like the overall styling of it. That hairdo made her look 29 instead of her real age, which is 20 years old! And then she has to add that the platform heels. But if she manages to hide those silvery platform heels, it would've been great. I do appreciate that the gown had an impact. Love the iridescent from the red to the nude color. 8.4/10

Jamaica - Jamaica is coming strong this year, as strong as that gown! I'm in love. love. love. One thing, I don't know if I would put that necklace there with that gown. 8.9/10

Kosovo - Did she sign up to Miss Universe 2014 or Miss Boring 2014? If she did sign up to the latter, I know she would win. She has no energy whatsoever. That short dress instead of a full length gown did not help. 6.8/10

Lebanon - Lebanon chose a decent gown but I don't know if she was able to carry that dress like it was supposed to. She looked so spring, though (in a good way). 8.2/10

Lithuania - She was a surprise for me because I never noticed this girl until she arrived! She is a naturally pretty girl but with over styling, her beauty might fade. Belly up - 8.1/10

Malaysia - give it up to this country when it comes to transformation. However, I feel like her transformation is still overshadowed by the other girls. She needs to watch her smile, I think. 8.0/10

Mexico - She's another stunner that I never noticed til the arrival! She is definitely growing on me. I do think that her beauty is still not as wowing like Ximena and Karin. 8.8/10

Netherlands - She is windmilling my heart! I am always excited to see her beauty and that night she did not disappoint! Although she wore a short dress, I still think she looked gorgeous!!! 9.0/10

Paraguay - she also caught my eye after arrival. I like her and I would like to see this cinderella to be on the semifinals. 8.5/10

Philippines - when it comes to beauty, filipino has always been known for their exotic looks. When it comes to gowns, meh not so exotic. This dress is an exception, finally. It is beautiful on her. Yes, it's a recycled gown from Ara, but who wore it better? Hands down MJ did. and that "good night" though. 8.6/10

Portugal - How do you say it's too short in Portuguese?!?! 6.5/10

Russia - Look wise this girl got it--most of the time. In some candid pictures she looks like a very expensive escort. Performance wise was disappointing because she did not deliver much. Look wise 8.9/10

Singapore - Leave it to Ines to style someone gorgeously. The dress and the shoes were to die for. One thing though, I didn't quite like the hairstyle. 8.4/10

Slovak Republic - One very gorgeous girl!!!! The look was good but nothing was spectacular..... 8.1/10

South Africa - What was she thinking exactly? I am not quite sure. That gown looks like a prom dress she got from New Jersey cheap store. That length is just wrong, wrong, wrong. 6.3/10

Sweden - Miss Sweden has never looked any better and I'm super glad! I have to take some points, though because it is too short and it showed those platforms heels I didn't wanna see! 8.8/10

Thailand - listening to her was a shock for me because she grew up in L.A. before finally moving to Thailand BUT she still has a thai accent? Child you need to give me more of the american learning--that is the flirty (or slutty?) vibe. Look wise she looks sophisticated but she needs to have more energy and be more daring with her wardrobe. 8.2/10

Turks and Caicos - She had one of the best look of the night! I am so so glad! Girls, take a note from this look! 9.1/10

USA - for a host country girl, she looks way too boring. Those silver platform heels did NOT help. 7.8/10

Venezuela - given that she is Miss Venezuela, boring girl and boring outfit. She looks like she didn't even try to look good. I was greatly disappointed. 8.0/10
